Habitat: shady area in evergreen hardwood forest growing on steep limestone cliffs, limestone bedrock. Epilithic, perennial deciduous herb, up to 20 cm tall. Roots reddish brown, tuber not seen. Stem yellowish and dull red, densely covered with soft white hairs. Pedicels pale reddish yellow with white hairs. Petals pink, pinkish white at base, stamen bright yellow. Leaf blades dark brownish green densely covered with spiky red hairs above, bright burgundy red below, with soft white hairs. Locally common. |
