Perennial herbs, submerged, flowers terminal or more rarely axillary. Inflorescence solitary on a scapose raceme, spike, or sometimes pseudo-cymose, leaves arising from a rosette of normal or strongly modified. Sepals is mostly distinctly zygomorphic rarely subzygomorphic, calyx 2 or 5 lobes rarely 4 lobes, corolla gamopetalous, 5 lobed, stamen 2 at a base of corolla-tube filament free, short, board, curved, anthers 1, carpels 2, ovule, central placentation, stigma 2 lobe, fruit is capsule. |
