Tree fern learning over muddy bank by stream. Caufex 4.5 m tall, 16 cm diameter. Stipe and rachis strongly grooved above, dark green above, dark brown beneath, with a row of pale brown scars between top and bottom surface; stipe and rachis with small spines formed from persistent bases of long scales; stipe 3.5--4.5 cm wide at base. Frond 345 cm long, lamina 290 x 140 cm, 23 pairs of pinnae, widest around the middle of the lamina. Lamina dark green above, paler beneath. Sori restricted to basal 5 pinnae and basal pinnules of each pinnae; spherical, reddish-brown. |
