Perennial herb ca. 4 m high; pseudostems green. Leaves upper surface dark green, lower surface pale green with pruninose. Inflorescences terminal, subpendulous; bract outer involute, dull purplish red outside with pruinose, yellowish red inside. Flowers yellow. Compound tepals yellow; lobes dark yellow. Free tepal opposite and insert in compound, white. Filament white; anther yellow with red. Ovary green; style yellowish white; stigma yellow. Fruits with rubber, pruinose, green; seeds numerous, black. |
