Herb 4-5 cm high; stem black. Petiole sessile with leaf sheath, reddish brown when old. Leaves rather glaucous, lower surface dark reddish green, upper surface dark green. Inflorescence reddish black; female floret in lower spike and empty in upper spike; pedicle glacous. Flowers numerous, white, surround by densely white silky hair. Glume; lower narrowly ovate, apex acute, glabrous; upper similar. Lemmas absent, present in empty, lanceolate, apex acute, hyaline, membranous. Palealanceolate, apex acuminate, hyaline. Stamens unseen . Pistil 1; ovary superior; style 2 g, yellow; stigma 2, plumose brown. |
