The tree from which this specimens was obtained is a mature syzygium papillosum located in Fresh Water Swamp Forest immediately next to Car Park A at Upper Selector reservoir Park. This section swamp forest has a healthy population of S. papillosum trees of varous size/age -all of the matures trees flowers at the same time in late January to early February 2011 (S. grande in the area also flowered at this same time). Fruits commenced mid March 2011 and is now almost finished on 23 March. Small birds as well as butterflies were observed visiting the flowers. Ripe fruit green, globose to 2.5 cm long. |
