Sandstone bedrock; open, disturbed, fire damaged area in evergreen, seasonal, hardwood forest with pine. Perennial, deciduous herb; rhizome shortly creeping in soil; tuber erect, brown outside, very pale light yellow-green & aromatic inside; inflorescence lateral and basal on tuber; peduncle scales light green with dark violet tips, coma dark violet; calyx white, tips of lobes dark violet; corolla tube white, lobes pale light red; staminodes light yellow, lip yellow; entire anther cream; stigma & style white; leaves dry Abundance: medium. Medicinal use: cut dried tubers put into hot water and drunk to cure exhalation. (In liquid collection.) |
