 Herb 60-100 cm high; stem erect or climbing, dark red. Petiole sub-pubescent, dark red. Leaves black and red at midrib and vein. Inflorescence panicle of spike, red; peduncle sub-pubescent; bracteole membranous, yellow greenish. Flowers unisexual, numerous, yellow greenish. Tepals yellow greenish, membranous, outside pubescent. Ovary yellow greenish.
